A live-in couple is required full-time to reside in a large private estate and provide support and security for a high net-worth individual. You will also be required to manage the maintenance of a pool of prestige cars, keeping them in good condition in line with their prescribed servicing schedules.
You must have experience in security, facilities management and the service industry, and above all be reliable, presentable, have excellent attention to detail, be energetic and hardworking with a desire to carry out all tasks to a consistently high standard. The successful candidate will be living in generous and high-quality accommodation on the premises.
The role requires significant commitment in terms of time, as well as the flexibility to adapt to the changing nature of the owners’ diaries, who spends extended periods overseas and therefore a 24/7 presence is required on the property.
Said property provides great access to excellent walks, both on the estate and nearby. There is a mainline rail station under 10 minutes away, with regular trains to central London.
Applications from ex-military personnel (Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, British Army, and Royal Marines) will be particularly relevant for this role and are strongly encouraged.
Main Duties:
The live-in caretaker will be responsible for the security and routine maintenance of the 15-bedroom house, its outlying dwellings and elements of the gardens and grounds.
Working as part of a wider team of domestic, secretarial and grounds staff, the live-in caretaker will routinely occupy the premises, so that it is not left unattended when the owner and other members of staff are off site. The private estate is used for the purposes of leisure and hosting friends and family, therefore discretion and sensitivity are essential.
During the day, the live-in couple will ensure that the property is kept to the existing very high standards of maintenance and will facilitate any servicing and repair as required. Out of hours, you will remain on the premises to provide a presence for security purposes and will respond to any ad-hoc situations as required (alarms, power cuts etc.).
The Successful Candidate
The successful candidate will be comfortable in the service environment, with a professional and committed approach. They will have excellent communication skills and a proven record of working well as part of a team. Strong organisational skills and a keen eye for detail are essential, as is the need to remain adaptable to the needs of the client.
Experience in security, facilities management and the service industry would be extremely useful.
Due to the nature of this role, the caretaker should be willing to work bank holidays, with time off in lieu.
