Salary:            £32,000 - £38,000 basic, plus Allowances

Location:        Poole, Dorset

Job Type:       Permanent

 

A leader in gas and oil combustion systems for marine and offshore applicationsis now looking for a Marine Service & Commissioning Engineer to join its team. The Marine Service & Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for installing, commissioning, maintaining, repairing and upgrading the Company’s products and equipment.

 

This role would suit ex-military candidates and applications from ex-service personnel are strongly encouraged.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for installing, commissioning, maintaining, repairing and upgrading the Company’s products and equipment.

  • Attend site to supervise and assist with the mechanical and electrical installation of the Company’s equipment.

  • Upon completion of the installation, the Marine Service & Commissioning Engineer will bring the equipment into service and fully commission and load performance test.

 

Key Qualifications and Experience

 

Essential:

  • Good technical ability with skills in both mechanical and electrical disciplines.

  • Experience in steam generation or boiler burner maintenance.

  • Good knowledge of and the ability to interrogate and change PLC based control systems

  • Qualified in Electrical or Mechanical discipline to HNC level or equivalent.

  • Must be prepared to work offshore and overseas for extended periods for the majority of the time, often at short notice.

  • Self-motivated with excellent customer service skills.

  • Good communication skills.

  • A level of commercial awareness.

  • Ability to work without supervision.

  • A clean driving licence.

  • A full passport with no visa restrictions.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience with combustion systems in an offshore or Marine environment
  • Knowledge of instrumentation and control systems
  • Completed a recognised apprenticeship in Marine engineering.
  • Worked in a similar service type role with proven extended overseas working experience.
  • An ability to investigate, locate & resolve issues with complex hardware & software control & instrumentation systems.
