HQ4730: Client Relationship Manager

We are currently looking for a Client Relationship Manager to join our team, leading the development of the Supplier Management Strategy.
The Specialist Technical Advice for Rail (STAR) Framework is the means by which all Rail technical and commercial advisory activities are procured in Rail Group and HSR. The Framework has 42 Suppliers and an estimated spend of £80m over 4 years. Each contract supports the delivery of key projects such as Rail Franchising and Direct Awards, Major Infrastructure Projects and HS2.
As Client Relationship Manager you’ll have overall responsibility for managing all commercial transactions procured through the STAR Framework, from strategy development through to contract award. You’ll be developing and implementing the Department’s procurement strategy, ensuring robust processes are in place and that the Department’s and Government’s Commercial Standards are met.
The rail supply chain has major challenges as there is a lack of technical rail advisory companies, so your role is to implement a work package approach, developing innovative ways to specify requirements and attract medium and expert level suppliers. This will require a detailed understanding of rail technical requirements.

Key Skills & Attributes:
You will have sound commercial judgement, with a strong track record of tough decision making balancing risk and commercial outcomes and an understanding of the trends and the business drivers that influence business decisions.
You will hold, or be working towards, a procurement qualification like MCIPS, or be able to demonstrate an equivalent level of experience. You’ll have experience leading major commercial activities, managing frameworks and growing supply chains, developing SRM strategies and leading on their implementation.
The Commercial Relationship Management team is responsible for providing end-to-end support to customers throughout the lifecycle of procurements and commercial activities.
