Description :

Reporting to the Director, and working closely with the Contracts Manager, the Health & Safety Coordinator is required to ensure health & safety compliance within the company’s sites. The Health and Safety Coordinator will monitor current legislation and ensure that all employees are kept safe.

The Health and Safety Coordinator will promote the company values at all times and support the leadership team in positioning the business as a key supplier to the construction industry. You will be office based but also expected to visit client’s sites in the South Yorkshire area (50/50 ratio).

Main duties and responsibilities:

 

·         To implement the company health & safety policy in line with current standards.

·         To manage and implement legislation change into policies and methods of work.

·         To ensure all health & safety documentation is correct and in line with current legislation.

·         To update and improve health & safety policy as and when required.

·         To compile generic and specific Risk Assessment Method Statement (RAMS) for all work carried out in conjunction with site delivery team.

·         To monitor and audit sites with a resultant report to Site managers and Directors.

·         To carry out health & safety audit, checks and “tool box” talks (internally or externally) to all relevant staff and to ensure this is kept up-to-date.

·         To update and implement training matrix and to be able to find cost effective suppliers.

·         To manage re-claim of CITB's levy and grants; compiling training plan will enable you to advise of the timing and values of such funds.

·         To oversee safe systems of work and sourcing beneficial alternatives (safe/time/cost).

·         To complete required pre-qualification documents.

·         To update SSIP annually (this includes CHAS and SMAS).

·         To set up site files and documentation for new sites.

·         Monitor and assess our client’s “Professional Standards” policy

 

Skills and attributes:

 

·         Must have IOSH/NEBOSH general certificate.

·         An understanding of construction industry, ground work and civil engineering.

·         The ability to deliver basic training sessions and mentor/coach operatives would be distinctly advantageous.

·         Team spirited with positive attitude and application.

·         To remain professional and engaging at all times.

·         Able to abide by the company’s policies and procedures at all times.

·         Able to abide by and promote Health & Safety at work, at all times.

·         Have a good level of numeracy and I.T. skills.

 

Salary:   £25,000 - £35,000 (DOE)
