These positions are with one of the largest commercial DAF dealerships in the UK, which also services and maintains all other types of HGVs, including Volvos and Scania vehicles. This organisation is committed to the highest standards of maintenance and repair for the HGV vehicles that it supports. You will be expected to demonstrate strong diagnostics abilities, the skills to do routine service inspections to MoT standard, the ability to operate in a safe, accurate manner under minimum supervision and to meet and surpass customer expectations. Ideally, you will have experience of working in an HGV workshop preferably in a franchise dealer environment; a HGV license is desired but not essential as training can be given.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturer’s procedures in a safe and responsible manner
- Undertake fault diagnostics
- Road test vehicles when required, subject to licence restrictions
- Ensure repairs are carried out in accordance with manufacturer standard times
- Comply with warranty procedures during repairs
- Ensure warranty displaced material is returned on completion of a repair
- Assist with good workshop and dealership housekeeping at all times
- Work with the parts team to ensure the correct replacement parts are fitted to the vehicles
- Ensure company time recording procedures and job card write- ups are complied with
- Ensure that service sheets are completed as per manufacturer/customer instructions
- Ensure that all vehicle defects are reported to the workshop supervisor
- Attend any technical or development training that is made available
- To observe Health & Safety regulations at all times
- Ensure that the workshop facilities, equipment and tools are kept clean, tidy and maintained, reflecting the image of an efficient dealership
Person Specification:
Essential:
- Basic mechanical skills
- Commercial vehicle experience
- Ability to inspect vehicles and maintain to MoT standard
- Understanding of legal requirements of HGV vehicle maintenance
- DVSA MoT Inspection Manual awareness
Desirable:
- HGV Class 2 licence (training can be provided)
- City & Guilds Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Competence
- BTEC Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Competence Principles
- Tachograph Calibration

Hours:
Early/Late shift:Monday to Friday (6am - 2.30pm and 1.30pm - 10.00pm; alternate weeks)
Weekend shift: Thursday to Sunday or Saturday to Tuesday (7.30am to 6pm)
Night shift: Monday to Friday (10pm to 6.30am)
