SW 4827: Deputy Engineering Manager
Salary: £35,000 - £37,500 DOE
Location: The Falkland Islands
My client is looking for a Deputy Engineering Manager for a 12 month fixed term contract in The Falkland Islands. Reporting to the Engineering Process Manager, the Deputy Manager will provide hands on engineering support to plant equipment, which is state of the art and will enable the island to process contaminated oil waste for the foreseeable future. Due to the technical nature of the Process Plant, the ideal candidate is likely to be an experienced fitter used to managing all aspects of equipment management and maintenance; an experienced mechanical and electrical engineer with solid knowledge of maintenance processes and systems. Training will take place in Devon or Hampshire and following pre-deployment holidays the team will deploy to the Falkland Island in Jan 18.
Main Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the mechanical and, with support, the electrical installation of the Processing Plant
- Responsible for routine and periodic maintenance of all aspects of the plant
- Responsible for maintaining a stock of spare components for the processing plants and calling forward spares from the UK
- Be capable of deputising for the Engineering Process Manager or the Deputy Process Manager - Sampling and Testing during rotations, sickness or training
Experience and Qualifications:
- A full Fitter Apprenticeship or ex-forces Engineer/Fitter with excellent experience (likely to have served as a Senior NCO or equivalent).
- A strong mechanical bias and electrical engineering knowledge is an essential requirement
- Recognised mechanical and electrical engineering qualifications
- Workshop/Ship Engineering Supervisory experience or similar is desirable
- Experience of sampling and testing fuel/oil would be an advantage
Training would commence in the UK approx. October with work starting in January 2018 (15 months in total). This role will ideally suit someone from a Royal Navy, Army or Royal Air Force background. Simple, but comfortable accommodation and meals will be provided in the MPA area at no cost (civilian contractor units). 6 weeks holiday every 6 months working on a rota basis with the other team members.
