The Company and the Role:
Excellent opportunity to join a global group which provides heavy equipment transportation to the British Army in peacetime and during operations. The role is for a Driver / HET Operator who must become Sponsored Reservist. The position is permanent and is located at an Army camp in North Yorkshire.
The primary purpose of the role is to operate and drive Oshkosh HET`s and civilian vehicles to a high level of professionalism, adhering to all relevant legislation, regulations and company policies and procedures. In addition, an integral part of the role is to be a TA Sponsored Reservist.
You will provide military capability on operations as well as delivering armour during peacetime and at other times you will work as a contracted Driver to our client. Work will be divided between driving our client`s new fleet of specialist military vehicles and civilian HGV vehicles based in your home region; this is a home based role. They are currently seeking Driver / HET Operators who must become Sponsored Reservists.
All applicants will have to undergo a comprehensive medical and fitness / strength tests. Therefore, interested applicants should be of good health and physically fit.
Key Features of the Role:
Operating and driving Oshkosh HET`s and civilian vehicles to a high level of professionalism, adhering to all relevant legislation, regulations and company policies and procedures.
You must become and remain a Sponsored Reservist whilst in the role.
Providing military capability on operations as well as delivering armour during peacetime.
General driving duties as well as adhering to road traffic and vehicle laws and regulations both in the UK and whilst overseas.
Knowledge and Skills:
You will be an accomplished professional driver qualified C+E (HGV 1), with experience of driving articulated vehicles and have not more than 6 penalty points on your licence.
In the role if you have previous service in the Royal Air Force (RAF), Royal Navy or Army (Reserves or Regular) then this is advantageous.
You must hold a British passport, be eligible to join the Reserves and be willing to become and remain a Sponsored Reservist (SR) and uphold the commitments as an SR
ADR licence is desirable but not essential.
What`s on Offer:
Basic salary is annual basic salary of £27,320 pa for an average working week of 48 hours averaged over a 17 week reference period. In addition, there is a Territorial Army bounty payable and uplifts and allowances depending upon deployment to theatre. On target earnings can be up to £47,466pa depending upon the time spent on deployment.
28 days` holiday including bank and public holidays increasing to 33 days over 5 years, Stakeholder pension, Life assurance etc.
