EB4978 Functional Safety Consultant
Salary: to £59,000

An exciting requirement for a Functional Safety Consultanthas arisen to work with a world class, independent engineering consultancy, operating in multiple locations around the world, to support vehicle manufacturers and their supply chain with cutting-edge engineering and testing expertise.
The Functional Safety Consultantwill be responsible for delivery of specific functional safety work products related to certain vehicle attributes and will need to take technical responsibility for delivery of technically challenging activities such as requirements decks, working closely with the vehicle attribute/technical teams and coordinating both with supplier management functional safety consultants in China and the functional safety managers in the US. The Functional Safety Consultantneeds to have a proven track record in maintaining complex requirements decks, dealing with automotive architectures, new technologies and executing in full safety analysis (FMEA, FMEDA, and quantitative FTA) sometimes with incomplete data. A track record in the aforementioned activities is essential. This role will be based in Nuneaton, UK with occasional travel to West-Coast US and potentially China

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Working closely with the vehicle attribute/technical teams
- Coordinating with supplier management teams
- Coordinating activities with the China and US teams
- Taking responsibility for the functional (including safety) requirements deck
- Architectural design and evaluation in regards to functional safety activities
- Executing safety analyses (FMEA, FMEDA, and quantitative FTA)
Skills & Experience:
Essential
Expert (5+ years’ experience in):
- Delivering ISO 26262 to vehicle manufacturers and tier 1 suppliers covering all aspects of the safety lifecycle
Experience in:
- Functional safety planning & management
- User and systems level requirements capture, management and technical review
- System level architectural design and technical review
- Embedded hardware design and technical review for safety-related systems
- Embedded software design and technical review for safety-related systems
- Executing and reporting on independent safety assessment (confirmation measures)
- Executing safety analyses (FMEA, FMEDA, and quantitative FTA) sometimes with incomplete data
Preferred
- System level architectural design and technical review
- Other automotive-relevant safety-related systems standards, such as IEC 61508 or MISRA SA
- Engineering process development and practical implementation; including CMMI, ISO 15504 (SPICE)
- Safety of the intended functionality
- Autonomous vehicles and how to assess/achieve functional safety of machine learning algorithms
- Hybrid electric and pure electric powertrains and practical experience of applying and achieving functional safety thereof
Qualifications:
Essential
Good first degree (minimum 2:1) in electrical/electronic engineering, systems engineering or a relevant related discipline
Preferred
- Higher degree (relevant M.Sc, Eng D, Ph.D)
- Corporate membership of an engineering institution including Chartered Engineer qualification
