The Company and the Role:
The Company is one of the UK`s leading independent providers of logistics services. For over 50 years, the company has built an enviable reputation by providing customers with complete solutions to their Freight Forwarding, Supply Chain Management, UK Warehousing, Distribution, Logistics and Contract Management, Training and Advisory requirements.
They now have an excellent opportunity for someone who is an experienced Traffic Operator to join their team in the day to day operation of a UK vehicle fleet. The position is based on the outskirts of Southampton and is permanent.
Key Features of the Role:
Working closely within the Traffic team and reporting to the Transport Manager you will be involved in the day-to-day planning and routing of the Company’s vehicles, drivers and sub-contractors in the most cost effective way possible, using and keeping up to date all the systems available, while ensuring the fleet is run in a legal manner delivering high quality operational performance. Key tasks include:
Routing/scheduling Drivers and vehicles
Driver Supervision
Utilising the companies resources as effectively as possible
Liaising with customers and responding to their demands
Keeping all systems up to date
Knowledge and Skills:
In order to be successful in this position you will need previous UK Transport experience and have a can do attitude.
You will need to be self-motivated, proactive and strategic in your approach, have good computer skills, knowledge of current legislation regarding Drivers tachograph rules and Working Time Directive and be confident in dealing with Drivers.
Shift system in place covering the hours between 06.00hrs and 18.00hrs
Some weekend work involved 06.00 to 12.00 on a Saturday and Sundays 1 in 4 working.
What’s on Offer?
An excellent basic salary of a range of £25,000 – 33,000 depending upon experience.
In addition 23 days holiday per year plus all bank and public holidays, Company pension scheme and Life insurance.
