EB5051: Vehicle Braking Technician
Salary: £22,000 to £28,000 DOE

An exciting requirement for a Vehicle Braking Technicianhas arisen to work with a world class, independent engineering consultancy, operating in multiple locations around the world, to support vehicle manufacturers and their supply chain with cutting-edge engineering and testing expertise.
The successful Vehicle Braking Technician will work alongside the experienced braking engineers, supporting and assisting them in delivering vehicle development programs. The Vehicle Braking Technician role shall include the fitment of test equipment, assisting the engineers with vehicle testing, fitting of parts to vehicles, and fabrication of bracketry, rigs and parts to aid development. Although braking is the focus of this role a degree of flexibility is required to support other attributes within the Mechanical Engineering team.

Experience
Essential experience for this role would include:
- Have worked within the automotive industry, preferably within the braking development sector for a vehicle manufacture, tier one supplier or a consultancy.
- Experience of fitting vehicle instrumentation and be familiar with vehicle measurement techniques
- Working as part of a vehicle engineering team
- Hands on development of vehicle braking systems and related parts
- General vehicle service and repair
- Operating in a customer facing role
- Working under own initiative
Desirable experience for this role would include:
- Having worked away from regular location, ie. off-site facilities within the UK and/or abroad
- Experience working on a wide range of vehciles, including defence applications and HGVs
Skills
Essential skills for this role would include:
- Have good fabrication skills, ideally including a welding qualification
- Maintenance of equipment, rigs and facilities
- Demonstrate good communication skills with both colleagues and customers
- Availability for occasional travel, for up to three weeks, to global locations
- Knowledge of vehicle mechanical and electrical systems
- Proficient in the use of PC based software and systems
Desirable skills for this role would include:
- Electro-mechanical systems fault diagnosis and rectification
- 12V electrical systems
- Experience of HEV’s
- Full vehicle system knowledge
- Experience in vehicle development
- Strong problem solving skills
Qualifications
Essential qualifications for this role would include:
- Full clean driving license (ideally)
- Formal vocational qualification in vehicle engineering or related discipline (NVQ3 or C&G in an automotive field)
Desirable qualifications for this role would include:
- HGV Licence
- FLT Licence
