Description :

This role is with a not-for-profit organisation that delivers a superb and safe door-to-door transport service, via specially adapted minibuses, for residents of the Borough who have reduced mobility. You will provide comprehensive support to the Operations Manager by ensuring that vehicles are operated in accordance with Department of Transport requirements such as health and safety. You will also assist the Operations Coordinator with vehicle and driver allocation, vehicle maintenance and repair. This is a rewarding position that will suit someone who has a passion for serving the local community and puts customer service at the top of their agenda.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Operations Manager and Operations Coordinator as required
  • Undertake Section 19 Permit checks and order new permits
  • Assist in ensuring vehicle scheduling system  is used to best advantage
  • Assist the Operations Manager with all training requirements including First Aid, Manual Handling, MIDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme), Passenger Assistance Training and any ad hoc training as required
  • Action vehicle fault resolutions as directed by the Operations Coordinator
  • Work with the Operations Coordinator on daily vehicle allocation and maintenance
  • Assist with vehicle first aid kit and fire extinguisher checks and apply for vehicle road tax
  • Check wheelchair restraints serviceability and replace where necessary
  • Act as a standby driver as required
  • Coordinate uniform ordering with oversight from Operations Manager
  • Coordinate vehicle consumables ordering with oversight from Operations Manager
  • Ensure serviceability of all vehicle blue badges, and order replacements
  • Ensure serviceability of turning circle fob and order replacements
  • Undertake invoice data input onto vehicle management and scheduling system
  • Undertake driver allocation data input onto scheduling system from driver rota spreadsheet

Person Specification:

This role will suit someone who is keen to learn and wants to work for a not-for-profit organisation. A Category D1 driving licence qualification is desirable and experience of vehicle fleet operations is preferable but not essential. The role requires someone proficient in IT with good verbal and written skills, a flexible approach to duties and able to work effectively as part of a team. This position will require an Enhanced DBS clearance.
