The working hours will be Monday to Thursday 7:00am to 2:30pm, Friday 7:00am to 12:00pm and Saturday 3 hours (1 week on - 1 week off)
As the Boiler Technician you'll ensure the availability of all core utility generating plant and ensure it is maintained at all times with regard to critical production systems. To carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), reactive and breakdown works on various systems across the site.
The Boiler Technician will be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of Steam Boiler/Steam systems, Chillers, Air Compressors, Water Hygiene (L8). The candidate should have a good working knowledge of Mechanical systems and components including pumps, valves, compressors, heat exchangers, boilers, mechanical seals, and pressure equipment/expansion vessels.
Main Responsibilities/Duties Include:
Shall be responsible of the day to day running of boilers, ensuring all statutory checks and inspections are complete including e.g. BG01 and FGas requirements Act as the Authorised Person on site for High Risk Pressure Systems isolations and maintenance Ensuring boiler operational logs and kept, and record and investigate and trips and abnormalities Take daily boiler water samples, ensuring levels are within defined operating limits Take the lead on AHU filter changes Managing and monitoring of Steam Boiler chemical requirements as per Ensuring operational logs are kept and record, and any trips or abnormalities are reported to the Senior Contract Manager Be available to respond to out of hour call out support if required
Ensure all site logbooks are up to date, and subcontractor maintenances and services are recorded
Ensure all core utilities are operated in the most cost efficient and safest manner at all times Maximise reliability, optimal performance and life cycle for all assets within this core utilities operation No unplanned loss of system supplies, all operational activities impacting upon service are planned and coordinated with the Client
Manage the day to day running and operating of the core utilities, including planning both in house and subcontractor supported maintenance and defect investigations
Performing planned maintenance according to the optimised PPM schedule using appropriate checklists and audits for system analysis
Ensuring that the PPM and Reactive service requests follow the process of locating, diagnosing, adjusting, repairing faults (as required) and testing
Undertaking programme of routine inspections, maintenance and functional testing, as per original asset systems and equipment manufacturers guidelines, design intent, OEM specifications, framework maintenance standards, Client operating requirements, SFG20, SSOW, HSE guidance, and statutory and regulatory requirements and industry best practice
Responding to and rectifying all reactive maintenance service requests in accordance with the Response and Rectification Times Undertaking and completing routine and reactive attendance of the plant as necessary to optimise operation without detriment to the client normal operations
Ensuring all planned interruptions to service are effectively communicated and agreed with the Client prior to commencing any works that have potential to impact production
Ensuring all requirements for intrusive works are effectively planned and agreed with the Client
Ensuring a sufficient inventory of spares are kept for high turnover items, lamps, seals, gaskets etc Managing replenishment and disposal of lubricants and chemicals through the approved waste streams
Undertaking and completing routine and reactive switching/changeover of plant as necessary to optimise operation without detriment to the Clients activities
Managing and monitoring water hygiene requirements as per the specific risk assessment management plan
Ensure an awareness and compliance to the contractual KPI's/SLA's Maintaining all records for statutory, regulatory and operational failures and take appropriate corrective measures to maximise reliability and operational availability
Ensure that Method Statements and Risk Assessments are prepared and used for all tasks undertaken to ensure safe working practices at all times
Ensure subcontractor Method Statements and Risk Assessments are received and reviewed, ensuring they are comparable to Engie's company standards To develop a good working relationship with all members of Engie staff, subcontractors and the client representatives
Ensure the provision of a Safe and Healthy working environment.
To include the wearing of uniform and PPE at all times Able to write Risk Assessments and ensure that all requirements are adhered to Ensure the professional image of Engie is presented to clients at all times To undertake lone working when and where required, subject to passing satisfactory training/risk assessment Ensuring that only competent and authorised persons have access to, operate, inspect and maintain the site's core utilities equipment defined within Engie's SSOW To ensure tasks as directed are completed with the appropriate H&S awareness/implementation Any other task as directed by the account management team
Skills and Qualifications:

BOAS/BG01 training is desirable Recognised Health and Safety Qualification, such as NEBOSH / IOSH would be advantageous City & Guilds F-Gas qualification is desirable Experience of maintaining Boilers and steam generation Good verbal communication and written English skills Committed to the delivery of excellent customer service Calm manner, able to work under pressure Physically fit and able to carry tools and components by hand up to 20kg Able to ascend and descend vertical access equipment. Able to work at heights. A team player, able to work with Engie/Clients representatives Must be willing to provide holiday and sickness cover at short notice and be flexible in their working patterns For this role you must have evidence of right to work in the UK.
