Description :

This role requires an individual who will be responsible for the baling of our recyclable post-exhibition carpets, ensuring a consistent and un-contaminated bale which is fit for recycling process. This position requires the individual to take personal responsibility for the quality of the bales and co-ordinate accordingly with the team and logistics partners.

This role will require the operative to manage health and safety in their immediate area as well as take responsibility for housekeeping by cleaning the surrounding area and by completing daily log books and reporting any defects to their team leaders/line manager.

Site work may also be required from time to time including actual removal of carpets from event site. This role requires a reasonable level of physical mobility, so the candidate must be in good physical health.

The role is likely to be evolutionary and there may be opportunities to progress into a more senior position as the operation expands.

Main responsibilities

  •  Ensure a high level of health and safety is maintained at all times by reporting any issues or incorrect procedures to the management team.
  •  Preparing recycling material (post exhibition carpet) for baling and checking for contaminates
  •  Operating a state of the art baling system safely and working to meet targets and deadlines
  • Help to ensure the continuing operation of the baling process maintaining a well organised, clean and professional environment and participating in deep clean operations each week
  • Ensure that baled materials are as per agreed specifications
  •  Compile baling unit KPI's for example, stoppage sheet, daily tonnage reports, transport loading reports.
  •  Manage resource levels and prioritise tasks to ensure smooth workflow and hitting a daily target of bales produced.
  •  Ensure housekeeping and cleanliness of machinery is kept to a good standard
  •  Understanding company health and safety requirements and being able to put these into action
  •  Adhering to company business standards system; identifying nonconforming material, reacting quickly to changing circumstances with excellent attention to detail
  •  Ensuring that company property & equipment meets legislative requirements by maintaining machines and work place to a high standard completing regular planned cleaning tasks
  •  Occasional site visits to co-ordinate/physically uplift carpets. Experience 
  • Willing to work and undertake manual tasks (such as housekeeping of their operational area, loading, unloading etc)
  •  Understanding of safe working & environmental procedures
  • Good people skills; be able to communicate at operational levels to all departments
  •  Good numerate, written and problem-solving skills
  •  Good initiative & organisation skills
  •  Good time keeping & punctuality
  •  PC literate, basic Excel, Word, Outlook. Required license or certification
  •  FLT licence ideal but not essential
  •  Some form of experience with a baling process / machine would be advantageous.
