The Company and the Role:
The Company was founded in 1998 as a family business and remains a fully independent, family run freight forwarder and logistics provider offering global services by air, sea, road and international courier. Whether Import or Export they provide a wide range of services tailor to customer needs and are supported by a global warehousing operation handling stock inventory control and international transportation solutions across the world.
Currently seeking an HGV Class 2 Driver to be based at their facilities in Hampshire, close to the South Coast.
The position is permanent.
Key Features of the Role:
Your work will involve local deliveries and collections using a range of vehicles.
Duties to include cover holiday/sickness night run, Southampton to Heathrow for deliveries and collections.
You will ensure that all loads are safe and checked against paperwork before departure.
You will ensure and complete deliveries in a safe and proper manner.
You will present a positive image of our client to the customer, at all times.
You will ensure that all relevant delivery paperwork is completed properly.
You will carry out vehicle checks and routine maintenance, reporting any defects.
Finally you will complete all paperwork to comply with current legislation for tachograph and the working time directive.
Knowledge and Skills:
You will be an accomplished Class 2 Driver and possess a Drivers CPC and a Digital Tacho Card
A valid ADR certificate preferred but not essential.
You must be over 25 years to meet the companies Vehicle Insurance requirements.
You must be able to cover holiday, sickness and night runs as required.
You should be a keen team player with a focus on providing excellent customer service, have excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
You should be familiar with health and safety procedures as they relate to the work of a Driver.
You should be familiar with safe loading and unloading procedures.
You should be familiar with defensive driving techniques.
You should be very familiar with tachograph requirements and the Working Time Directive.
This would be an ideal first step into a company that is actively seeking military leavers and ex - military personnel to become a major part of their long term plans.
What`s on Offer:
Basic salary is £19k per annum depending on experience based on working Monday - Friday 0900-1730hrs, however, regular weekend work especially in the Summer will be a regular feature of the role.
Overtime is paid 02.00 Saturday am to midday Saturday time and a half and Midday Saturday to 00.00 Monday morning double time.
You will receive 20 days` holiday plus bank and public holidays rising with continued service plus company pension, health care, excellent onsite facilities and free site parking. Opportunities for training in the role are excellent.
