Description :

The Sales and Business Development Manager will be responsible for maximizing the after sales revenue and margin within the Oil & Gas Sector.  This is an active sales role with the need to project manage, where you will be responsible for selling preventative and reactive maintenance, repair, overhaul, upgrades of pumps, valves and services to various end-users of rotating machinery.  

Although mainly home-based, you will have the opportunity to work from the Aberdeen Service Centre if required.  Our client is a leader in the design, manufacture and production of fixed protection and centrifugal pump systems.

Applications from ex-military personnel (Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, British Army, and Royal Marines) are strongly encouraged.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaising with the client`s service centres, field service coordinators and field service engineers to prioritise work and ensure job details are correct
  • Identify Scottish end-users and EPC key accounts (Engineering Procurement and Construction), to develop, build and maintain relationships with them
  • Generate new product and service business opportunities from these accounts
  • Identification and development of new and existing customer relationships
  • Account management with responsibility for establishing new and maintaining existing relationships with end-users and EPC`s (Engineering Procurement and Construction)
  • Management of the client`s historical customer base where products, on and offshore, have been installed
  • Support and grow the client`s service framework agreements
  • Open new avenues of opportunity for the Engineering Services Division, from non-Oil and Gas reliance
  • Ensuring the customer is on the Approved Vendor List for all major Engineering Procurement and Construction contractors and end-users within the Oil & Gas sector
  • To identify and generate project leads, then liaise with the relevant teams in order to help coordinate tendering activities and maximise order potential for the Group
  • Surveying sites and developing best value solutions to customer problems
  • Support National Sales Managers in administration and Marketing activities
  • Work alongside the client`s suppliers to develop joint business opportunities
  • To investigate and provide technical solutions to client requirements, then develop technical and commercial negotiations to secure business
  • Negotiation of pricing, availability and technical solutions
  • Tender preparation and support as required
  • Reviewing detailed specifications
  • Analysing sales data to identify new opportunities
  • Preparing reports for the Senior Managers
  • Reporting for visits planned and made
  • Performance to set KPI`s
  • Travelling to visit potential clients
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures
  • Present a professional image, support and promote brand values at all times

Knowledge, skills and qualifications required:

Essential:

  • Strong knowledge of sales, commercial and marketing techniques
  • Experience and knowledge in the pumping industry and pumping applications in Aberdeen
  • Knowledge of Fire, Seawater Lift, The American Petroleum Institute (API) and/or process pump types
  • Knowledge of the UK Oil & Gas market, in particular Aberdeen
  • Experience of major service framework agreements
  • Good engineering background with experience of centrifugal pumps, valves, compressors and aftersales services and repair
  • Presentation and negotiating skills with customers
  • Highly numerate with command of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Able to work and travel within Scotland and to visit Group manufacturing facilities overseas if necessary
  • Demonstrate ability to plan and prioritise workload to meet required time schedules
  • Full driving licence

Desirable:

  • Minimum of a Mechanical Qualification to BTEC or HNC or equivalent
  • Experience of using relevant software such as Salesforce and SAP
  • Experience working in Scotland, in particular Aberdeen
