The Company and the Role:
The Company is an ethnic foodservice distributor supplying to a broad range of customers through the UK and Ireland.
Part of a larger group, the Company currently has 5 depots and due to expansion the Company is seeking a Buyer to be based at their depot in Essex. The position is permanent.
You will report direct to the Group Procurement Manager ( GPM) and ensure supplier relationships are established and effectively maintained, negotiate prices and contracts, relaying any issues and feedback and managing stock to enable product availability at the correct level expected.
Key Features of the Role:
Working effectively as a team member with the Group Procurement Manager
Managing multiple sourcing projects at any given time
Drafting and negotiating supply contracts
Managing supplier performance as agreed with GPM
Delivering savings and supply chain efficiencies
Identifying new suppliers to maximise quality and minimise costs
Responsible for capital purchases and commercially accountable to maintain relationships.
Knowledge and Skills:
This is a key role within the buying team and you will ideally be an experienced Buyer of food products.
You will be a focused and energetic individual comfortable working in a fast paced business.
However. whilst knowledge and experience of the foodservice sector would be advantageous, it is not necessary as we are looking for candidates who can really demonstrate commercial acumen, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.
You will be highly self-motivated, able to work efficiently and independently within time constraints.
Ideally you will have a good understanding of key metrics that impact the commercial revenues e.g. ORD’s /Marketing / Rebates / Category Leadership value.
You will be numerate, have excellent presentation and communication skills, be able to communicate at all levels and be decisive, assertive and persuasive.
You will enjoy a high level of autonomy and therefore must be highly self-motivated to achieve agreed goals.
You will have strong negotiating and relationship skills and able to manage your own time effectively.
What’s on Offer?
A basic salary of around £25-30k per annum plus benefits
