This is an amazing opportunity to join a Project Delivery team that’s growing fast and responsible for a truly wide variety of refurbishment, conservation and construction related projects.
The main purpose is to deal with all major investment property related matters. Property and engineering infrastructures consisting of buildings that range from the historic to modern.
Applications from suitably qualified ex-military personnel (Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Marines) will be particularly relevant for this position, although all suitably qualified applicants (including those with no military background) will be considered.
Job Purpose:
Project Leaders perform the informed client on behalf of the Project Owner or Project Board by proactively leading on the delivery of estate wide property, building refurbishment and conservation projects and managing external consultants. A great opportunity to gain exposure to a diverse and exciting range of projects, typically ranging between £5m and £50m, you will be relied on to meet the needs of internal teams. The successful candidates will be required to meet the needs of internal teams and to report to all interested parties, including project boards, Clients and stakeholders.
As well as running their own projects, Project Leaders support the Senior Project Leaders and Assistant Directors in the development of programmes of work that manage the requirements of different clients.
Customer focused and familiar with the scheduling process, you will be adept at applying project planning principles and techniques such as Gantt charts. You will have a track record of agreeing robust project briefs and taking them from inception through to project delivery on time and to budget and agreed quality standards. A good understanding of the application of health and safety issues is important too, as is evidence of having successfully procured consultants and contractors in the past and managed them in line with the agreed terms of appointment/form of contract. Analytically astute, collating financial and other information from a range of sources, examining it and drawing conclusions to inform value for money business cases. Able to explain complex information in an easy to understand way to the project owner.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Post-qualification experience of managing external consultants and contractors in an occupied building or construction environment and organization of project delivery effectively on time, budget and to agreed quality standards.
- Experience of applying project planning principles with the ability to take a robust project brief from inception through to project delivery.
- Understanding of good procurement practices and ability to successfully procure consultants and contractors and then manage them in line with the agreed terms of appointment or the agreed form contract.
