About us:

OppoSquads - Linking the UK's children with innovative, fun, military based challenges and ex-military personnel to Inspire Resilience, Discover Potential and Build Confidence We have created a number of challenges (or "missions") that develop core skills. These include communication, organisation, resilience, problem solving, teamwork, listening, cooperation, leadership and confidence. We currently operate in-school and after-school clubs, working with primary aged children to help them develop these skills in a fun environment.

Description of School Squads:

Opposquads are teaming up with a number of primary schools to provide after school clubs and whole leadership days. The after school squads run weekly throughout the school term (approx. 10-12 weeks) with squad numbers between 6 and 18 per session. Every week the school squads are challenged with different missions, enabling them to explore key skills, including communication, listening, resilience and problem solving. Skills progress is assessed and recorded so that both pupils and parents can see continual improvement. Whole Leadership days in schools are facilitated by the Squad Leader, with the support of teaching staff and parent helpers. A circuit of "missions" is typically set up in the school field and year groups rotate through the missions, again exploring key skills. These are often aligned to the curriculum or topics being discussed at school, for example, Leadership or British Values.

Missions will include:

  • Blockwork - Can the team recreate the blockwork patterns in the time?
  • Minefield - Can the team work together to cross the minefield?
  •  Shark Infested Custard - Can the team cross the custard using just a few blocks of wood?
  •  Tyre Stack - Can the team rearrange the tyres in the right order?
