The office of Beadle is a senior and integral position within the Grocers Company, which has a history and traditions dating back to 1348. The Beadles ceremonial role provides the public face of the Company within the City of London. The Beadle is the main point of contact for the membership, comprising 1,080 Liverymen and Freemen, and is additionally responsible for the day-to-day management and security of Grocers Hall, and the care and safety of the Companys archives, treasures and regalia.
To succeed in this role you will have substantial experience in managing senior stakeholders, committees and/or boards, and will have previously taken a leading role in ceremonial events. You have a profound respect for history, tradition and protocol, and a well-developed sense of duty. You are able to direct others, to foster a positive team environment, and to lead by example. Computer literate, and with excellent organisation skills, you are socially confident, flexible, discrete and tactful, and you bring enthusiasm and energy to your work at all times.
This position is ideally suited to a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer, Warrant Officer or Late Entry Officer. The position requires the experience and personality associated with someone who has military training and the military ethos. The Grocers Company, located close to Bank station, is one of the City of Londons Great 12 Livery Companies, and ranks second in order of precedence. We are a membership-based organisation and a major grant maker through our extensive charitable activities.
