Description :

Due to promotion of the previous post-holder our client is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, self-motivated Driver & General Labourer to operate the Company lorry and other vehicles in accordance with the Contracts Manager and other authorised personnel.  To support Site Managers with general labouring on site.

Applications from suitably qualified ex-military personnel (Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Marines) will be particularly relevant for this position.

Job Role

  • Make collections and deliveries
  • Support Site Managers
  • Ensure the company’s policy on Health & Safety and the requirements of Health & Safety Legislation are met and safe working practices are adhered to.
  • Effective daily use of appropriate company Information Systems.
  • At all times comply with company policies, procedures and instructions.
  • Implement new ideas and methods and continue to seek ways of both improving contribution to the organisation’s goals and enhancing the reputation of the company.
  • Taking pride in condition of the lorry and ensuring it is not subjected to unnecessary damage

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Effective working relationships are an essential part of daily working life.
  • The focus in this role is both:

            i.     Internal: Colleagues within Head Office and other operating sites of the Company.

           ii.     External: Sub-contractors, suppliers, customers, utility providers, HSE, visitors, neighbours and the general public.

  • These are illustrative principle duties and you are expected to become involved in a range of work to enable the Company to respond effectively to the requirements of the business. 

Skills

  • Ability to drive safely and diligently
  • Ability to listen and assimilate instructions
  • Being organised
  • Being able to work within a team
  • HGV (Class 2) Driving Licence and CPC (advantageous but not essential)
  • Minimum of two years experience working in a transport environment
  • Positive, flexible attitude to work and the ability to perform well under pressure
  • Safety conscious, at all times, observant and with good attention to detail
  • Problem solver and able to adapt quickly to ever changing situations
  • Prepared to take responsibility and be held accountable
  • Approachable and reliable
  • Committed to delivery and customer focused (internal and external)
  • Ability to establish good working relationships and communicate effectively at all levels
