Description :

Our Client is a marketing and print distribution company whose Head Office is based in West Yorkshire. They are now seeking someone with relevant transferable skills and the focus required to manage the effective implementation of a national scale print distribution contract delivering phone directories into residential housing across the UK. The position is offered initially on a 12 month contract and is styled Distribution campaign Director.

Reporting into the Managing Director, the successful candidate will have overall responsibility to effectively plan, lead and manage all aspects of the BT Phone Directory distribution campaign. Key responsibilities are as follows:

LOGISTICS PLANNING & MANAGEMENT
Fleet Management: Advance planning and live controlling of vehicles, driver requirements and related costs.
Kit Preparation: Inventory analysis and management of all equipment, bags, uniforms used by distribution teams.
Haulage & Storage: Booking of heavy logistics, warehousing, stock movement & surplus waste disposal.
Route Mapping: Creation of coverage maps, VIP identification, regional subtractions, in advance for the teams.
HR PLANNING & MANAGEMENT
Team Briefing: Ensuring all members of the team understand the job requirements and work fulfil them.
Recruitment: Posting of new job opportunity alerts via the internet, email, text, Facebook, Twitter; in advance.
Staff Contact: Calls and suitability assessments made to allocate new work opportunities to book people in.
Work Confirmations: Emailing & posting of instructions, confirmation of work & meeting point locations.
Performance Analysis: Rewarding the most productive staff and de-selecting underperforming personnel.
Health & Safety Compliance: Risk identification, staff training, kit compliance and on-going management.
Payment Processing: Collating wage payment information, tax forms and vetting of expenditure.
LIVE CAMPAIGN MANAGEMENT
Deadline Controls: Monitoring status of all campaigns and taking measures to comply with client KPI requirements.
Staff Management: Daily co-ordination, grouping, re-booking and evaluations of team leaders and distributors.
Performance Tracking: Record keeping of areas completed, feedback updates, filing and forward route planning.
Issue Rectification: Swift complaint investigation, resolution, & pre-planning of stock delivery requirements.
Team Leadership: Working with the field teams in person and remotely to motivate, inspire and enhance productivity.
Financial Controls: Providing profit by working within cost parameters & analysing expenditure on each area.
CLIENT SATISFACTION
Client Contact: Providing bi-weekly progress updates to client (by phone, in person and via email).
Data Analysis: Updating & sending the KPI tools (Run Rate Trackers) showing progress made in each area.
Performance Analysis: Preparing of coverage data & submitting to independent auditors for distribution scoring.
MANAGERIAL STRATEGY
Process Planning: Creation of processes driven task lists, to complete the work requirement to required timescales.
Performance Optimisation: Providing managerial support and resource planning to effectively deliver performance.
Activity Analysis: Creation and review of monthly financial and performance reports with senior business team.

Whilst the position is based at our clients Head Office in West Yorkshire, the remit of the role will require trips across the UK to meet up with the teams, to ensure everything is working correctly (e.g: a few days per month on the road).

Knowledge and Skills:

You will be an accomplished Logistics / Distribution manager ideally with experience of print management and distribution.

You must have a strong logistics planning background.

Experience of working in the home deliveries / express parcels sector would be ideal.

You must have excellent communication and motivational skills someone who can motivate the Distributors to consistently perform.

You should be an excellent team player, logical and analytical.

Experience of managing third party haulage companies is desirable

The starting salary will between £25,000 to £30,000 depending on experience.

Normal working hours are 09.00am - 18.00pm although there may be an occasional requirement of Saturday and Sunday by advance arrangement.

Holiday entitlement is 25 days paid holiday, plus Birthday and all Bank Holidays (31 in total). In addition a Christmas bonus of £200 is payable each December. Annual salary increases are expected to be up to 10% year on year.
