Description :
A Senior Pipeline Technician is required for our client, a global leader in the design and installation of polymer linings for the Oil and Gas industry. The Senior Technician will lead the delivery team and will be very much \"hands on\" ensuring that the work is completed in accordance with priorities and constraints laid down.
The position requires National and International travel; therefore candidates must be able to travel away from home for extended periods of time.
The Senior Pipeline Technician will be primarily responsible for ensuring that the overall activities conducted by the team will be conducted safely and in accordance with laid down parameters and will have an engineering background in mechanical, electrical or similar discipline. Experience in the pipeline industry is preferable accompanied with operational experience with winches and operating and maintaining plant and equipment.
As the trade is specific to the Client`s industry, training will be given and successful applicants will undergo a Training Needs Analysis and the result will determine the level of training to be provided in order to carry out operations competently and safely.
The Senior Pipeline Technician duties will be as follows:
The safe delivery and operation of all equipment and personnel.
The supervision of polymer pipe handling, including lifting, towing, moving and storing of pipe lengths and pipe surface inspection.
Liner fabrication including fusion welding, internal and external de-beading and QC.
Leak testing including fitting of equipment and pressure testing barrier, monitoring and recording pressure, bringing the liner stalk up to pressure and de-pressurising and recording of results.
Setting up and removal of reduction equipment on location and fixing the reduction die and supporting site proof testing and monitoring the liner progress through the die.
Preparation of the liner pull in including entry and exit devices at host pipe ends. Use of guide ropes and winch systems and monitoring of safe progress.
Qualifications and Experience
An appropriate engineering background or qualification in either mechanical, electrical or a similar discipline.
Previous experience of operating and maintaining plant and equipment.
Operational experience with any type of winches would be beneficial.
Strong appreciation for all health, safety, environmental and quality issues.
Lead experience in the pipeline industry would be preferred but as a minimum offshore industry experience.
IT literate.
A positive approach to man management and teamwork accompanied with strong leadership abilities.
