Our client is part of the Logistics Division of a major Middle East Group and a provider of transport and logistics solutions and services within the Arabian Gulf and throughout The Middle East.
In addition to general cargo haulage services they operate storage and consolidation services and they specialize in moving land based drilling rigs across sites and international boundaries. They routinely provide both contractual and ad-hoc support to the majority of upstream operators in Oman and well as most of the oilfield services companies.
They are seeking a Plant Operations Supervisor to be based in Oman and working in the interior on a local shift pattern. This is a contract role on a 2 year renewable contract.
Reporting into an Operations Manager, the successful candidate will manage remotely located operators working on oil rig sites in Oman.
Our Client provides manned cranes and forklifts on long term contracts to many drilling contractors such as Schlumberger, KCA Deutag and others.
This new role is a combination of training and supervising the Operators combined with customer skills (dealing with onsite Rig Managers and Tool Pushers).
In effect the job is to make sure that the cranes and forklifts that our client provides to their customer’s rigs perform to expectations and that our clients staff are looked after.
Work locations are all across the interior of Oman.
Knowledge and Skills:
To meet this unique challenge, you will be an ambitious transport operations professional familiar with cranes, forklifts etc.
Candidates should have previous experience of driving / operating forklifts and ideally cranes experience as well.
With outstanding leadership ability and a strong customer focus, you will have the confidence to win credibility and make an immediate contribution.
You should have good interpersonal and coaching skills.
Ideally you will have some experience of working overseas, ideally in the GCC.
You should have a strong health and safety background.
A military background would be very useful.
You should possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally one other language and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner, work to tight deadlines and pay attention to the detail.
Superb communication skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions. You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.
Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence and be PC / IT literate. An international driving licence would be very useful.
