Our Client is a leading supplier to the foodservice sector in the UK, Ireland, France and Sweden. Our clients new Distribution Centre in Essex is progressing to plan and it is now our client’s intention to begin recruiting for a number of positions that will play a key role in ensuring that the site is ready to go live during 2015.
The site which will have a 24 hour operational cycle will be of great significance to our clients overall distribution network once fully operational and it is therefore imperative that they have the right number of appropriately trained staff in place prior to the site going live.
They are currently seeking a Transport Planner to ensure that any successful candidates receive a thorough period of training well before the site is ready to go live. The position is permanent.
Reporting into a Distribution Shift Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the transport planning of vehicle movements throughout the depots area of operation ie, primarily Essex, Hertfordshire, Suffolk and parts of North and North East London
You will ensure effective and efficient transport planning
You will ensure cost efficient delivery of vehicles within agreed customer lead times.
You will liaise with distribution managers and supervisors and customers.
You will provide effective administration including maintaining records and filing.
You will support other members of the transport team.
You will identify opportunities for greater efficiency within key business processes and make recommendations accordingly.
You will work to achieving various KPI’s.
You will abide by all Health & Safety and Legal requirements and will work within all Company policies and procedures.
You will promote good customer service.
Knowledge and Skills:
To be successful in your application you will be an accomplished Transport Planner and will ideally have experience of working in a fast paced distribution centre environment, be passionate about your role and be committed to delivering a truly outstanding customer experience.
You will have extensive knowledge of the local road network.
You will have a good understanding of current commercial vehicle and Drivers hours legislation.
Ideally you will have had some supervisory experience
You will have excellent inter-personal and strong communication skills.
You will have good attention to detail.
You will have excellent IT / PC skills, with an ability to pick up new processes quickly.
Knowledge of SAP system is desirable but not essential.
You should have a current full UK Drivers Licence.

If successful in your application you will be required to spend some time working at some of our other clients locations during your induction period. Any relevant business expenses incurred will be reimbursed in line with company policy.
