Our client is a leading provider of aviation parts to the airline industry. They have a huge inventory of aircraft parts which are currently stored at locations in the USA and at their European Distribution Centre at London Heathrow.
They are seeking a Procurement Manager for their European Distribution Centre at London Heathrow Airport. The position is permanent.
This is a new role reporting into the Senior Vice President – Programmes, Europe and Asia and has a sales aspect to it but in reality it is broader than that with asset management and sourcing responsibility.
The role has emerged because our client has established a good partnership with the ATR aircraft manufacturer (the French / Italian consortium based in Toulouse).
This part of our client’s business started with our client selling parts to ATR which they use to support their customers. The next step is for our client to sell ATR’s surplus parts and then they are looking at acquisition of aircraft for part-out. The key aspects of the role are:
You will review our clients ATR parts stock to decide which parts to recertify, repair or modify.
You will purchase parts from the market to add to our client’s stock.
You will manage repair vendors in Europe.
You will support the Sales Person for the ATR company with technical knowledge as required.
You will be expected to find other customers for ATR parts and sell to them.
You will find aircraft available for purchase, carry out an aircraft valuation and negotiate with the owner.
You will supervise the teardown, if the aircraft is torndown in Europe or Asia.
Knowledge and Skills:
You will ideally have procurement or sales experience in the aviation sector and ideally in aircraft parts.
Experience of “ATR” is highly desirable.
You should have a good standard of tertiary education with an engineering or science based degree, or have equivalent technical qualifications.
The ability to speak other languages would be extremely useful, in particular French and /or Italian.
The position is nominally based at our client’s facility at London Heathrow but our client is open minded in that they will consider candidates who live further away from Heathrow and allow the successful candidate to be home based with occasional visits to our clients London Heathrow facility.
Basic salary will be in a range of £30-40k depending upon your experience and skill set. A scheme is in place and will be discussed. In addition, there is 20 days’ holidays plus 8 public and bank holidays and BUPA health cover is provided for the job bolder and their family.
