Set back within 15 acres of landscaped gardens, the tranquil environment of the Priory Hospital Southampton offers therapeutic and recovery focused residential treatment as well as day care and outpatient services. The hospital also provides a specialist inpatient service for children and adolescents.
Priory Hospital Southampton provides 40 beds across 3 ward. The services provided at the hospital include Addictions Treatment, young peoples ward (CAMHs) and treatment of most psychiatric low risk conditions and Eating Disorders.
We have a highly experienced team of mental health professionals and support staff, which include consultant psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses and therapists.
The role:
You will work closely with our multidisciplinary teams to ensure that clients receive a holistic and person-centric care and treatment programme based on the recovery model. This will include providing consultant input to all NHS acute patients subject to the clinical speciality required, conducting outpatient assessments for private patient referrals, and acting as the consultant for all day patient and in-patient admissions that are not already allocated to a consultant at referral.
Clearly, this role is both varied and challenging. In addition to doing ward rounds and attending CPA meetings, for example, you will take part in all clinical governance activities and actively contribute to service development in collaboration with the Medical Director and Director of Clinical Services. You will also offer a psychiatric perspective to the multidisciplinary team in relation to the assessment, formulation and treatment of young people.
To join us, you must hold a CCST/CCT or equivalent in the relevant areas of psychiatry and have experience of working in inpatient settings with people with significant mental health difficulties. You will certainly have experience at consultant level within the NHS, including the ability to conduct training and some experience in addiction psychiatry. A good team player, you must also be keen to participate in a multidisciplinary approach to assessment, formulation and management plans. You will, of course, agree to hold and continue registration with the GMC including being on the specialist register for general adult psychiatry.
