A Boat Engineer is required to provide PPM and reactive maintenance on narrow boats. The Boat Engineer will enjoy being hands on and working away from home when required. There is a definite maintenance pattern within the working year that reflects the seasonal nature of the industry. During the summer months when boats are on the waterways of Great Britain, maintenance is more commonly reactive and the Boat Engineer will be expected to take turns to attend call outs which could be anywhere in Great Britain depending on the location of the boat at the time. There may be a requirement to work away from site however there is not often a need to stay away from home. From October to February, planned and scheduled maintenance takes place. During the winter months, when maintenance is required on the boats, the engineer will live on the boat whilst carrying out their role.
Applications from ex-military personnel are strongly encouraged.
