Hazelwood House is well-located for patients with learning disabilities in the Midlands.It provides a dedicated LD service here for patients for whom a Low Secure care setting is appropriate. Assessment, treatment and rehabilitation helps patients who may have complex conditions, challenging behaviour and vulnerabilities. The service provides patients with the opportunity to step down from low secure to community based rehabilitation houses in preparation for discharge.

The Role:

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist to work at Hazelwood house.  Hazelwood House provides low secure care for male patients with a learning disability, including those with co-morbid personality disorders, mental illness and Autism Spectrum Disorder

As a senior OT, you will have experience of working with individuals with learning disabilities, mental illness and/or personality disorder. Working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team you will provide specialist assessments and interventions (individual and group based) for your patients, based on the multi-disciplinary formulation of risks and needs. There will be scope for you to bring with you creative ideas that will support the development of skills that will aid patient recovery

You will be a member of a regional team of occupational therapy staff and supervision will be offered by the lead OT

To be successful as an OT you’ll need:

  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • HPC registration
  • Driving Licence
  • Experience of working with individuals with learning disabilities, mental illness and/or personality disorder.
