The company’s business covers the whole of Scotland and whilst travelling to company sites will attract overtime pay, no overnight stays will be required.
JOB PURPOSE
To efficiently and accurately service and maintain the Company’s commercial vehicles and cars in line with DVSA maintenance policies.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Competence (4270-23)
BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Competence Principles (Qualifications & Credit Framework (QCF))
Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance & Electronic Systems: Maintenance & Repairs
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The main duties will include ensuring the efficient maintenance of the vehicle fleet, comprising of refrigerated DAF and Mercedes trucks, to the required legislative standards and that those vehicles are inspected and serviced in line with Company Policy in order to minimise vehicle off road time for all vehicles.
Under the guidance of the Workshop Supervisor, the HGV Mechanic will:
Carry out workshop procedures, making cost effective use of materials and time;
Attend all training courses as directed;
Be aware of the Health & Safety at Work Policy Rules;
Ensure correct storage and disposal of materials, oil and effluent, so Company environmental standards are consistently achieved;
Carry out such other duties that might be reasonably requested.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
ln agreement with the Workshop Supervisor, the HGV Mechanic will be expected to achieve KPIs that will typically include:
Vehicles maintained to schedule on time
Repair costs within budgeted levels
Repair times within targeted levels
Targets for vehicles’ off-road time
Acceptable absence levels

HOURS
Hours will be worked over 5 days in every 7 day period, including weekends and bank holidays as needed. A flexible attitude to working hours is essential as start/ finish times may vary depending on the needs of the operation.
SALARY
Salary for this position is £23,000. Overtime is always available (which often applies to travel time required to visit other Company sites) to take earnings above £25,000.
