Nelson House is a modern and spacious 32 bed locked rehabilitation recovery service for men and women with mental illness. By having a focus on the development of skills for independence the unit provides a positive step for patients, many whose next step will be living in the community. It helps patients learn new ways of managing their conditions and symptoms with the aim of helping to prevent any future relapse. For patients with challenging behaviours, Nelson House helps them to learn skills to change their response to anxiety and distress.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a member of the multidisciplinary team at Nelson House, providing a high quality, specialist psychology service to the residents at Nelson House.
Nelson House is a 32 bedded locked rehabilitation environment for people with complex and challenging presentations including self-harm, PTSD, challenging behaviour, drug and alcohol addiction and treatment resistant schizophrenia.
The post holder will be responsible for the provision of specialist counselling/clinical psychology as a core member of the Nelson House therapy team. In addition, you will be required to encourage and support psychological practice within the team through consultation, supervision, formulation and training.
To provide psychological assessment and treatment to patients with a range of diagnoses of moderate to severe mental health problems with mood, anxiety and personality disorder, including depressive illnesses, personality difficulties, adjustment disorders and relationship difficulties.
To collaborate and communicate with colleagues, referrers, multidisciplinary team members and others as appropriate in the treatment planning and provision of services to clients. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of team policies and procedures. To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research.
Whilst the post is aimed at qualified individuals, we would consider applications from assistant psychologists with adequate levels of experience and post graduate qualifications in psychological therapies.
