The Woodbourne Priory Hospital is  a 71-bed acute psychiatric hospital for adults and adolescents, based in Edgbaston, Birmingham, offering a wide range of care to our varied client base of inpatients and outpatients. Set back within landscaped gardens, the tranquil environment of the Woodbourne Priory Hospital offers calming and recovery-focused residential treatment.

The role:

We are currently recruiting for a Therapist to be working at Woodbourne at our new Private 9 bedded ward for adult general psychiatry and also at out Wellbeing centre. Therapy work may be facilitated  through individual and group work for our inpatient and outpatient service provisions.

You will consider the patient`s views carefully, and their families where applicable, you will assess the psychological needs, devise psychological formulations and treatment plans in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team.

You will be part of the multi-disciplinary team which consists of: Consultant Psychiatrists, Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants, Counselling and Clinical Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists, Family Therapists, Drama Therapists and Nurses, ensuring that the patient/young person receives  truly integrated and individualised care provision.

Essential:

  • Proven experience in general mental health
  • Recognised post-graduate counselling or therapy qualification
  • Experience in pscyhotherapeutic work with individuals and groups
  • Experience in working with abstinence based addiction recovery / knowledge of the 12 step program
  • BACP Registered or equivalent
  • Patient - centric and commitment to delivering high quality care
  • Fine tuned assessment and clinical decision making skills
  • Experience and skills in responding to elevated levels of risk
  • Tolerance for patients’ distress and managing own stress levels
  • Excellent organisational capability
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Working in a self-motivated and independent way
  • High standard of keeping own clinical notes, report and assessment writing
  • Able to manage, monitor and review own case load

Preferrable:

  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act in service provision with adults
  • Experience of working with young people (14+)
  • Experience in both short term and long term therapeutic work
