Heathfield is a Neuro-Rehabilitation Service which provides specialist nursing care, rehabilitation and support for individuals with progressive neurological conditions (for example: Huntington’s disease, Prion disease, Pick’s disease and Motor Neurone disease).
Psychiatric and psychological input is available for those with associated mental health illness; support includes positive behavioural support for those requiring neuro behavioural support.
The service also has a dedicated unit for adults with complex care needs including disorders of consciousness including respiratory care and support.
Nursing and therapy programs are tailored for each individual and goals are developed in conjunction with their families to best reflect aspiration. Individuals are supported to take part in activities they enjoy, including sensory experiences, and families are encouraged to be involved through regular review meetings.
