As a leading manufacturer of centrifugal pumps and associated systems, supply and servicing of pumps, pump packages and equipment for over 100 years, our client is now looking to expand their team and recruit a Pump Fitter to be based in their workshop in Hyde.
The Pump Fitter Engineer will be responsible for dismantling, inspection, reporting and assembly of pumps and valves including site removal and installation, therefore occasional site works are required. It is anticipated that the Pump Fitter will have the flexibility to work overtime during the weeks and weekends (overtime paid accordingly).
Applications from ex-military personnel (Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, British Army, and Royal Marines) will be particularly relevant for this role and are strongly encouraged.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dismantle rotating equipment to component level.
- Identification of components.
- Compile detailed condition reports on equipment dismantled.
- Fault-finding on break down equipment.
- Assemble equipment using engineering drawings or experience/knowledge.
- Interpret maintenance manuals, drawings, schematics, and repair equipment, utilising specialist knowledge and standard test instruments and tools.
- Consult with engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems encountered.
- Present a professional image, support and promote brand values at all times.
- Carry out all work practices in line with Company Health and Safety Policy.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
- Meet high standard of cleanliness and housekeeping.
- Support site activities.
- Liaise with workshop personnel at all levels.
Knowledge, skills and qualifications required:
Essential:
- Relevant qualification to NVQ Level 3 (A-level to HNC or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or relevant experience
- Time served Craft Apprenticeship
- Service knowledge and understanding of rotating equipment
- Experience in the overhaul of pumps/valves
- People skills, teamwork and collaboration
- Problem solving skills
- Excellent customer service
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Valid Driving License

Salary: £24,284 (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 7.30am-4pm and Friday 7.30am-1pm)
